Baroque and Academic Training Concepts

by William Sanders

This required book "Baroque and Academic Training Concepts"
by Master Sanders breaks new ground. All of the special required methods are shown in detail, and in most cases with actual photographs. A brand new theory on jaw flexions is presented by Master Sanders, as well as work in hand, communicative lunging, traction and thrust. Even the Combined Effect of Baucher (which no one talks about) is explained and pictured. It is true that the Combined Effect was never abandoned and was even taught by the son of Baucher after he died, as a main part of the training. Here you will learn how. The five French rein aids are shown in detail on a horse with the proper hand positions and much, much more. A section on the lost aids covers how important the voice and sound is in training the horse. Even a section devoted to the classical training of gaited horses is presented. This is not your average riding book. You can really learn rare secrets that can propel you and your horse to new heights without any gimmicks, just knowledge.

Book included when you enroll in the Academy. Book reviews.

Baroque and Academic Training DVDs by William Sanders:

Jaw Flexions:  Much has been written about the mysterious jaw flexions of Baucher. Here for the first time is a DVD with Master Sanders showing you step-by-step what to do, how to ask and what to expect. More is explained than you most likely have heard in the past. This is the foundation for our work of a calm, relaxed and supple horse.

Communicative Lunging:  This is not traditional lunging that consists of chasing the horse around in any sense of the word. This special method of developing one-on-one communication between horse and rider is shown for the first time on video. This work is a must in both training the young horse and preparing the older horse for the work to come. This builds a true calm bond between horse and rider.

Counted Walk

The counted walk or diagonal walk is one of the most valuable tools to teach a horse self carriage in collection along with impulsion.  In my opinion the counted walk is Baucher’s combined effect "in motion" in many ways.  If you have read about this in many of the French books, etc. now you can see how it is done in hand and under saddle. My book "Baroque and Academic Training Concepts" has a chapter on the counted walk and you need the DVD to see what it looks like. Not available anywhere else that I know of on DVD.
